Birth Doula

While you’re focusing on growing your baby, we focus on you.

We are with you for the whole process: from pregnancy preparation, through birth, and into postpartum. Together, we prepare you & your partner mentally and physically for what to expect, how to cope, and ready your body for physiological birth. When it’s time for you to welcome your baby earthside, we will be by your side. We protect your space fiercely, and hold you up (sometimes literally!) during your labor and birth. Afterwards, we continue to support you as you emerge into the postpartum and newborn life.

Support means something different for every client.

We take time to discover what is important to you and craft our services to provide what you need. This can include a wide variety of things, here’s a few:

  • Education on birth and the postpartum time

  • Mental preparation, processing fear and anxiety

  • Building a positive mindset - birth can be fun and joyful!

  • Strengthening your mind/body connection

  • A listening ear and a shoulder to cry on with zero judgement

  • Hands-on methods for both coping with the intensity of labor and enabling deep relaxation

  • Trauma-informed care and self-advocacy tools

  • Bodywork to support your changing body and ready it for a smooth birth - you can add on massage with your prenatal appointments and Sadie will bring her table to your home.

  • Giving your partner tools to support you prenatally and during birth

  • Whole-family labor support: if your partner is more hands-on, we can make sure they are taken care of while they take care of you

Birth Package

◇  Model of care - We work in a primary/backup model. In the event that your primary doula is not available for your birth, you will have already met the backup. We chose to work together because we hope that in the event that we need to call one another in, our energies, philosophies, and approach are quite similar, creating a continuity of care for our clients.

◇  Complimentary initial consultation - via video call or in person meet. Having a doula you feel comfortable with is so important. This conversation gives us time to discuss how we can support you, and see if we are the right fit for your birth team. If we are both available around your due date, you will meet both of us and can then decide who you’d like to work with.

◇  3-4 prenatal sessions, in your home, in which we will discuss your preferences, dive deep into your vision for birth, address any concerns or questions, and prepare mentally and physically for the birth of your baby and for postpartum. More sessions if needed.

24/7 support via phone, message or email throughout your pregnancy.

Resources on almost any birth topic - our own handouts, research studies, articles and essays, referrals to practitioners and other birth-related folks

Lending library access

Assistance with writing out your birth preferences, if desired

Continuous labor support -  From 37 weeks onwards, we are on call for your labor. Your primary doula will join you when you need and offer:

  • Emotional support, cheerleading, and reassurance

  • Help creating a calm and safe environment for labor

  • Suggestions to facilitate labor progress with positions, breathing, movement, hydrotherapy, vocalizations… the list goes on!

  • TENs machine

  • Hands on support through massage, sacral counter pressure, and hot/cold therapy

  • Loving, continuous care for you and your partner(s)

◇  1-2 postpartum sessions to process your birth, offer guidance with feeding, newborn behavior and care, and celebrate and care for you!

Support via phone, message or email for 6 months after the birth. Because we’re not medical providers, we can be friends!

Paying for a Birth Doula

New laws in Oregon: as of 2026 all private insurances are mandated to cover doula services! This is still rolling out on a per-company basis, and not all phone representatives are necessarily up-to-date in our experience. If you are unsure or if your insurance says it does not cover, we recommend you call them and reference Senate Bill 692 (and related SB 1568) to nudge them.

We are both contracted with OHP and able to bill to most private insurances as stated above, but there are a couple exceptions: We cannot bill Kaiser, and we cannot bill WA residents who are not on AppleCare

Our out of pocket fees range from $1,000 to $2,500 based on your family’s financial situation. If you are expecting to pay out of pocket, please reach out to us and we can discuss more in-depth.
