Postpartum Doula Care with Sadie

Please note: My postpartum services are available only for my birth families. I do not take on soley postpartum clients. Thank you!

The postpartum period is a sacred, vital and precious time. In many cultures, it is custom for people who have given birth to cocoon in their rooms, homes and beds, and be tended and fed warm, nourishing foods by close community. There is a deep reverence for the transformation that has and continues to unfold. Within that cocoon, healing, learning and resting is abound. Relationships are forming, evolving, and a new family has been born.

I view my role as your postpartum doula in an expansive, multifaceted way. I am here to support you with the logistical and practical aspects that need tending such as newborn care and education, lactation support, belly binding, sleep (for all), dishes, food prep, and cord care, among others. And, I am also here to witness your transition into parenthood. To hold compassionate and nonjudgemental space for the wide range of emotions that often surface, to nourish you with food, massage, ritual, and to empower your choices as a parent. I listen, watch and notice when you need referrals to specialist care. I am attuned to your needs and the needs of the family ecosystem so that you can focus on bonding with your baby.

Every family has unique needs and desires for what support looks like. The way our sessions go varies from day to day and client to client. I am trained to support you in many ways, and our time together may include:

  • Breast/chestfeeding guidance

  • Newborn care - swaddling, settling, bathing, babywearing, diapering

  • Cooking and preparing meals, snacks and drinks - I can use your recipes, or I can provide a big list to choose from

  • Home care - a focus on cozy, tidy and fresh - tidying, dishes, linens, etc

  • Connection - listening, birth story processing, working through the hormonal rollercoaster, time to ask questions and explore various baby (or new parent!) behaviors or stages

  • Education - I can teach you various skills, such as infant massage or babywearing

  • Giving you a break - I can care for baby while you have some time to yourself

  • Recovery and Healing - massage, cesarean scar healing, sitz baths

I listen, watch and notice when you need referrals to specialist care. I am attuned to your needs as you get to know your baby. I support your parenting choices and give judgement-free assistance.
